Ypres Officer casualty 1914-1915 Star awarded to Second Lieutenant H.C. Melville, 13th Battalion attached 10th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire) Regiment who having arrived on the Western Front from 24th November 1915 was killed in action on 14th February 1916 during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine near the canal to the south-east of Ypres. He is remembered on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

Hugh Colquhoun Melville saw service as a Second Lieutenant with the Sherwood Foresters (Nottingham and Derbyshire Regiment) from 24th November 1915. He would be killed in action whilst serving with 13th Battalion, attached 10th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment) on 14th February 1916 during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine, prior to the German attack of the front line trenches, near the canal to the south-east of Ypres. Having no known grave, he is remembered on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
