Description:

A fine Jubilee Medal 1977 and Canadian Forces Decoration pair awarded to Major K.C. Gustafson, Canadian Forces Communication Reserve, who served with both the 3rd Signals Regiment and the 703rd Communications Regiment. Jubilee Medal 1977, Canadian issue; Canadian Forces Decoration, EIIR bust; (MAJ KC GUSTAFSON), mounted swing style as worn. Condition: Good Very Fine. Together with recipient’s miniature medal group mounted as worn. Kenneth Carl Gustafson served continuously with the Canadian Forces Communication Reserve from 26th June 1961 through to 14th September 1980, having enrolled as a 2nd Lieutenant into the Royal Canadian Signals, he was posted to the 3rd Signals Regiment. From 18th May to 14th June 1963, he was posted to Borden Camp for ‘Special Duty’, and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1964, followed by Captain on 1st December 1967. Having qualified as a Major on 26th July 1968, he served as Adjutant of the 703rd Communications Regiment from 1st February to 30th October 1969, and was promoted to Major on 1st January 1973, serving with the 703rd Communications Regiment. Awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration in 1973, he was later awarded the Jubilee Medal 1977 for his work as a civilian working for the Defence Board at Northern Defence Headquarters, and was then transferred to the Supplementary List on 14th September 1980. Gustafson died in Ottawa on 23rd December 2009.
