Francis Herbert Richards was born in Coldridge, Devon and having enlisted would see service as a Private and later Corporal (No. 15703) with the 8th (Service) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment and would be killed in action on 2nd April 1917 and is now buried at the Honourable Artillery Company Cemetery, Ecoust-St. Mein. He is also remembered on the Coldridge Roll of Honour which hangs on a wall of the parish church of St. Matthew, Coldridge
