Western Front casualty Victory Medal awarded to Private F.C. Ralphs, Lincolnshire Regiment who later served with the West Yorkshire Regiment and the 59th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps being declared missing on 21st March 1918 – the first day of the German Spring Offensive. He is later confirmed as died on 19th July 1918 now being buried in Le Quesnoy Communal Cemetery.

Frederick Charles Ralphs was born in York and enlisted there before seeing service as a Private (No. 5759) with the Lincolnshire Regiment and later as a Private (No. 29172) with the West Yorkshire Regiment and then as a Private (No. 140092) with the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) he was noted as being missing on 21st March 1918 by the British Red Cross, this being the first day of the German Spring Offensive and is later noted as having died on 19th July 1918 whilst serving with the 59th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps, now being buried in Le Quesnoy Communal Cemetery.
The Commonwealth War Graves notes him as the son of Elizabeth F. Ralphs of York, and the late Frederick T. Ralphs.
