Western Front casualty 1914-1915 Star awarded to Private H. Monkhouse, 5th Battalion, The King’s (Liverpool Regiment), who saw service on the Western Front from 21st February 1915 before being killed in action on 4th June 1916. He is now buried in Wailly Orchard Cemetery.

Herbert Monkhouse was born in Seacombe, Cheshire and was a resident of Liverpool when he enlisted there. He would see service on the Western Front from 21st February 1915 before he was killed in action on 4th June 1916 whilst serving as a Rifleman (No. 1429) with the 5th Battalion, The King’s (Liverpool Regiment). He is now buried in Wailly Orchard Cemetery and is noted as the son of Mr E.A. and Mrs. T.I. Monkhouse of 1 Birstall Road, Kensington, Liverpool
