Joseph Adams Silver was born in Brechin, Forfarshire, where he lived, and having enlisted at Glasgow, then saw service as a Lance Corporal (No.15893) with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers. Present out on the Western Front from 7th April 1915, he died on 16th June 1915, and having no known grave, is commemorated by name on the Le Touret Memorial. Aged 26 at the time of his death, he was the son of Alexander Greig Silver, and Charlotte Silver, of New Forebank, Brechin.
