Volunteer Decoration, EVII Cypher, reverse hallmarked for London with date letter ‘I’ for 1906, complete with the top bar.
Condition: Good Very Fine.
The basic qualification was 20 years commissioned service in the Volunteer Force, a precursor of the Territorial Army, non-commissioned service counting half. By Royal Warrant of 24th May 1894 the decoration was extended for comparable forces overseas. The Volunteer Decoration was superseded by the Territorial Decoration, on the formation of the Territorial Force in 1908. At total of 4,710 decorations were awarded.
