Victory Medal awarded to Ordinary Signalman J. Bishop, Royal Navy who joined the Royal Navy as a boy sailor on 13th October 1915. He would see most of his wartime service aboard the cruiser H.M.S. Pelorus as part of the Channel Fleet. Remaining in the Royal Navy after the war in 1929 he would serving at the shore establishment HMS Victory.

John Bishop was born in Brighton, Sussex on 3rd March 1900 and upon joining the Royal Navy as a boy sailor on 13th October 1915 gave his trade as an errand boy.
He would initially serve aboard H.M.S. Ganges until 15th June 1916, when he would transfer to the cruiser H.M.S. Pelorus which served as part of the Channel Fleet for the remainder of the war. He formally joined the Royal Navy for 12 years service on 3rd March 1918. He left Pelorus on 29th December 1918 having reached the rank of Ordinary Signaller 1st Class, and remaining in the Royal Navy his service papers end on 1st January 1929 at which time he was serving at the shore establishment on HMS Victory 1.
