Victorian circa 1870’s period large form gelatine silver print group photograph of officers of the 17th (Duke of Cambridge’s Own) Lancers, one of whom is clearly a veteran of the Crimean War, wearing three miniature medals, one being the Crimea Medal, the other a Turkish Order of the Medjidie. It is likely that he was a veteran of the Charge of the Light Brigade in which his regiment participated. Only one other officer wears medal ribbons, but a number of these men would have gone on to see service during the Zulu War in South Africa, where the regiment made a decisive charge during the Battle of Ulundi on 3 July 1879 . This image is pasted onto a mount that bears the details for Robinson of Dublin.
Condition: clear image, some tarnishing from age to card mount, generally Good Condition
