Karl Allen Allison came from Omaha, Nebraska, and originally enlisted into the United States Navy on 12 September 1941, and as of October 1943 was serving as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class (No.3168506) with the escort carrier U.S.S. Copahee at San Francisco, then stationed at the Naval Air Station at Almeda in California. However on 23rd October 1943 when aboard the U.S.S. Copahee at San Francisco, he sailed, the vessel being under the Commander of Air Forces with the Pacific Flee. During this period the U.S.S. Copahee made two voyages to deliver aircraft at Townsville and Bristbane, Australia, and one to Pearl Harbor. It seems that shortly afterwards he was transferred to another vessel in the Pacific and was then present on operations against the Japanese. Alison was awarded the United States Navy Good Conduct Medal in 1946.
