United States of America: Order of the Old Guard Society Membership Medal, believed for young members in the New York area, uniface oval form in bronze, the obverse bearing the embossed details: ‘De Novo Juven Tutem Agimus 1868’, this underneath ‘Old Guard’and ‘L.G. 1826’ and ‘C.G.1833’, reverse bearing markers stamp: ‘RS’, complete with original ribbon and slot brooch. This award appears to be scarce.

The men’s Society was conceived in Chicago in 1896, and laid to very ambitious plans for a large membership. Membership was to comprise those who qualified for membership in the Society of Colonial Wars, Sons of the Revolution, and General Society of the War of 1812. By 1905 these criteria had been broadened to include those wh had served in the Spanish-American War, the Civil War, the Mexican War, and finally, any foreign war, and the title changed to the Order of the Old Guard
