The documented General Service Medal 1918-1962, EIIR Dei.Grat. bust, 1 Clasp: Malaya, awarded to Trooper G.W. Clack, 13th/18th Queen Mary’s Own Hussars. Clack was a National Serviceman who saw service between July 1959 and June 1961, and joined his regiment when it was on service in Malaya towards the end of the Malayan Emergency when stationed at Ramillies Camp at Ipoh. It was then equipped with armoured cars. His regiment arrived in Germany in February 1961 and was stationed at Fallingbostel as part of the 7th Armoured Brigade Group, and it was around this time that he became acquainted with the Centurion tanks that he is photographed with, serving as a driver.

Regular Army Certificate of National Service Book, as issued to George William Clack, dated 21 June 1961.
Together with three photographs of Clack and other when working with Centurion tanks. These all annotated to the recipient on the reverse.
George William Clack was born on 21 June 1939, and was a qualified plumber who owing to National Service was enlisted into the British Army at Deerbolt Camp at Barnhard Castle on 2 July 1959, joining the Royal Armoured Corps as a Trooper (No.23631112) the 13th/18th Queen Mary’s Own Hussars. His regiment was then on service in Malaya towards the end of the Malayan Emergency when stationed at Ramillies Camp at Ipoh, and he joined it on operations, when the regiment was equipped with armoured cars.
His regiment arrived in Germany in February 1961 and was stationed at Fallingbostel as part of the 7th Armoured Brigade Group, and it was around this time that he became acquainted with the Centurion tanks that he is photographed with, serving as a driver. Clack was discharged on completion of his two years National Service on 27 June 1961.
