Territorial Efficiency Medal, GVR 1st type bust awarded to Private M. McNicol, 6th Battalion, Black Watch who saw service in France between 27th October 1916 and 28th February 1917. He would survive the war to be discharged in 1919 and was entitled a Great War pair and Territorial Force War Medal.

Malcolm McNicol originally enlisted on 3rd June 1908 for 4 years, and would later be recalled during the Great War. Initially serving with the Scottish Horse he was appointed a Lance Corporal on 13th April 1915 before later being post to the 6th Battalion, Royal Highlanders, initially as a Lance Corporal and later as a Private (No. 6550, later No. 268315) and would see service in France between 27th October 1916 and 28th February 1917 before returning home to the UK, where he would be discharged.
He would fall of a horse on 3rd June 1915 causing an injury to his right knee, leading to an operation which led to permanent weakness in the knee. Later applying for a pension he gave his address as Farleyer, Aberfeld, Perthshire.
Additionally entitled to a British War Medal, Victory Medal and Territorial Force War Medal.
