Second World War period British unofficial ‘Commando’ fighting knife variant of the Fairbairn-Sykes bladed form as produced by and marked up to the firm of John Blyde of Sheffield, as usually associated as having been carried by Royal Air Force aircrew but of private purchase. An original issue ‘machine-ground’ 3rd Pattern type blade with chromed finish and engraved company planetary symbol and the wording: ‘John Blyde / Clintock Works / Sheffield Genius’ with aluminium oval form guard, and eight ring wood grip. Complete with its period and correct to production dark brown leather slip scabbard, this also stamped ‘Made in Sheffield Eng.’ Rare and a very good example of type, the blade being in exceptional condition.
