Smail, Royal Artillery, who saw service during the Second World War in North Africa and Italy, and then post-war in Palestine during the Jewish Revolt, when a serving member of the 52nd Observation Regiment. He claimed the medal with appropriate clasp whilst stationed with this regiment at Acre in Palestine on 10th April 1948
