Nigel Sansom Le Ball was born in 1920 in Colchester, Essex, and originally enlisted into the Territorial Army in 1938, joining as a Gunner (No.1477977) the Royal Artillery. Discharged to a commission into the Royal Artillery on 20th November 1941, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant (No.219537), and appears to have been employed with the Heavy Anti-Aircraft Branch. Having seen service in the Middle East, Le Ball was promoted to Lieutenant on 8th August 1943, and went on to see service in Italy. He transferred from an Emergency to a Territorial Army Short Service Commission on 10th November 1948, and died in Suffolk in 2000.
