Second World War Mention in Despatches attributed to Major C.H. Broad, Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment who would see service with his unit during the invasion of Sicily on 10th July 1943, on mainland Italy from 3rd September 1943 taking part in the fighting at Ortona in the Liri Valley and in the fighting for the Gothic and Hitler lines. He would move to the Netherlands in March 1945 and subsequently participate in the liberation of that country, and was subsequently mentioned in despatches in the London Gazette of 4th April 1946.

Awarded to Major George Clifford Harvey Broad, Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment, Canadian Forces who saw service in the Second World War and would have been present during Operation Husky – the invasion of Sicily on 10th July 1943 before taking part in the landings in mainland Italy on 3rd September 1943, the regiment subsequently taking part in the fighting in Ortona, the Liri Valley and in the fighting for the Gothic and Hitler lines.
The regiment would move to Netherlands in March 1945 and subsequently assisted in the liberation of that country.
