Sapper (No. 1065) Dumar Din, Faridkot Imperial Service Sappers and Miners, Indian Army saw service in Afghanistan during the Third Afghan War – very scarce to unit.
The Faridkot Imperial Service Sappers was raised by the Raja of Faridkot and primarily consisted of Jat Sikhs, with a small number of Punjabi Muslims. They were a unit of the Imperial Service Troops, a group of Indian military units raised by princely states in British India. Specifically, the Faridkot Sappers and Miners were formed from existing Faridkot state forces and joined the Imperial Service Troops scheme in 1900. They were primarily composed of Jat Sikhs and were known for their expertise in bridge building.
During the Great War the unit would see service in German East Africa.
