Hunza Nagar Badge 1891, maker marked to the reverse ‘GURNEY & SON. LONDON, WOODSTOCK STREET’
Condition: Good Very Fine
The Badge was given by the Maharajah of Jummoo and Kashmir to his own state troops who took part in the Hunza-Nagar expedition. These were additional awards as Army Order 168, 1st September 1892, authorised the award of the India Medal 1849-95 with clasp ‘Hunza 1891’ to all soldiers of the Kashmir Army who served in the expedition.
The Badge was intended to be worn as a brooch at the neck, but it was later decided that it should be worn as a medal and some Badges had the original fittings altered to more easily accommodate the riband.
