The Jubilee Medal for 70 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR was established by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on January 28th 1988. It was awarded to all ranks currently serving in the Armed Forces of the USSR. Ministry of Preserving Public Order of the USSR, and forces and organs of the Committee for State Security of the USSR, except for first term soldiers and sailors (draftees). Approximately 9,300,000 were issued.
