Russia - Soviet: Order of the Red Star, 2nd Type, reverse numbered in hand engraved form: ’2639983’, awarded to Technical Lieutenant of Reserves I.P. Opishenkov, who was a member of the Red Army from January 1930 to January 1946, and saw service during the Great Patriotic War, being awarded the Medal for Combat Service on 3rd November 1944. Opishenkov was then serving as a Squadron Engineer with the 169th Special Operations Aviation Base in the Kiev Military District of the Ukraine when he was awarded a long service award of the Order of the Red Star (No.2639983) on 6th November 1945. He latterly became a metalworker, living and working in Leningrad.

Condition: small chip to enamel work on top of the left arm, some signs of wear, overall Very Fine.
Ivan Petrovich Opishenkov was born in 1912 in Tesovo in the Smolensk Oblast, and saw service in the Red Army from January 1930 through to January 1946. As such he saw service during the Great Patriotic War, as a Technical Lieutenant of the Reserves, being awarded the Medal for Combat Service (No.385508) on 3rd November 1944, in which year he also became a Candidate Member of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks.
Opishenkov was employed as a Squadron Engineer with the 169th Special Operations Aviation Base in the Kiev Military District of the Ukraine when he was awarded a long service award of the Order of the Red Star (No.2639983) on 6th November 1945. He is also entitled to the Medal for Victory Over Germany.
As of March 1947 when his Record Card was completed, he was living in Leningrad, and working as a metal worker in Factory No.466.
