Russia - Soviet: Order of the Red Banner, 3rd Type, 3rd Variation, reverse numbered: ’289973’, awarded to Major G.V. Bugaev, Army Service Corps, who was the battalion commander of the 1st Separate War Trophy Battalion, in the 24th Separate War Trophy Brigade, when he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. A Red Army veteran of the Russian Civll War between 1918 and 1923, he rejoined for the Great Patriotic War in 1941, and fought during the defence of the Caucasus. Later with the 47th Army, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star in February 1945, and the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class in June 1945, before receiving the Order of the Red Banner in November 1946, and the Order of Lenin in April 1947.

Grigory Vasilkievich Bugaev was born in 1901 in the village of Kasli in the Ufaleya district of the Chelyabinsk region in west-central Russia, close to the Ural Mountains. A member of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) - the VKP(b) since 1919, he originally fought in the Red Army during the Russian Civil War between 1918 to 1923, and then rejoined for the Great Patriotic War in 1941, and saw service through to April 1946, ending up a Major in the Army Service Corps, he became the battalion commander of the 1st Separate War Trophy Battalion, in the 24th Separate War Trophy Brigade.
Bugaev who fought in the defence of the Caucasus, was later decorated when serving with his unit within the 47th Army, with the Order of the Red Star (No.1100987) on 12th February 1945; the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class (No.717223) on 13th June 1945; and then went on to receive the Order of Red Banner (No.289973) on 5th November 1946; and the Order of Lenin (No.61885) on 30th April 1947. As of April 1946 he is shown as living in Rostov-on-Don.
