Russia – Soviet: Order of Glory 3rd Class, type 2, awarded to Sergeant K.K. Akhmedov, a Firefighter, Fire Brigade of the Staff of the Leningrad Front who took part in the fighting near Leningrad from 24th October 1941 onwards, including the subsequent winter counter-attacks of the Volkhov Front in March 1942 during which he was wounded. He would again be wounded in the fighting near Sinyavino in June 1943 later repulsing 3 enemy counter-attacks and disabling 3 light tanks being again wounded. Upon his recovery he was sent to the Fire Department of the Staff where he took part in extinguishing fires.

Kazum Kasanovich Akhmedov was born in 1911 an Azerbaijani national he served in the Red Army from 1st July 1941, including in the fighting at Petrozavodsk in October 1941 and at Sinyavino in March 1942, being awarded the Medal for the Defence of Leningrad.
This Order of Glory 3rd Class would be his sole numbered award, given to him whilst serving as a Sergeant and Firefighter ‘Fire Brigade of the Staff of the Leningrad Front’ and by decree of the Leningrad Front on 30th July 1944 as a result of the following citation:
‘As part of the 71st Rifle Division, he took part in battles on the Petrozavodsk axis; received a severe wound on 24.10.1941. With the 71st Rifle Division, again took part in battles on the Volkhov axis and in March 1942 suffered a severe wound. Upon recuperation was sent to the 11th Rifle Division in the capacity of assistant platoon commander; took part in the battles outside Sinyavino, where he received a light wound. Again outside Sinyavino on 17th June 1943 he received a concussion. Upon recuperation, with the 11th Rifle Division took part in battles to capture the Sinyavino heights.
For repulsing 3 enemy counterattacks and disabling 3 light tanks together with the soldiers of the platoon, he was recommended for the award the Order of the Red Star, and in this battle he received a light wound. From there he was evacuated to the hospital and did not receive the award.
Upon recuperation he was sent to the Fire Department of the Staff, where, taking part in extinguishing fires, comrade Akhmedov has displayed courage and bravery. Comrade Akhmedov is disciplined. He is high achiever in military and political training. Comrade Akhevdov fully seserves the Government award the Medal for Combat Merits.’
This recommendation was subsequently upgraded to this Order of Glory 3rd Class before being issued to him.
