Russia - Soviet: Medal for Combat Service, 1st Type, 3rd Variation with award serial number stamped: ‘321155’, with first type early suspension having been replaced, it having been reconverted for display purposes from a five sided suspension, and has an incorrect later form screw-plate. This serial number is indicative of an award made mid-1943.
Condition: some contact wear, first type suspension and screw plate replaced as detailed, suspension ring slightly bent, overall Very Fine.
Established on 17th October 1938, awarded to personnel of all ranks in the Army, Navy, Border Troops and Ministry of Internal Affairs troops for exceptional conduct in battle resulting in the successful execution of a battle task by the military division; for personal courage shown in defence of USSR borders; for excellence in military and political training; and for mastering new warfare techniques and technology. Citizens as well as foreigners were also eligible for this award. This award could be received more than once.
