Master Sergeant Grigory Davydovich Chebotaryov was born in the village of Staraya Poltavka, Staraya Poltavka Raion, Stalingrad Oblast during 1902, he served in the Red Army between December 1941 and 4th April 1943 when he was wounded. This Order of Glory 3rd Class was Chebotaryov’s was issued to him in 1947 with the following citation:
‘Serving as first sergeant of the 7th Rifle Company, 170th Rifle Regiment, 58th Rifle Division, 50th Army, Western Front. Master Sergeant Grigory Davydovich Chebotaryov took part in the fighting for the village of Yemelyanovka, located near the city of Smolensk, on April 1943. During the offensive, when retreating Germans were being overrun, he was severely wounded by shell shrapnel in his left leg. As a result of his wound his leg was amputated.
At the present time he is a disabled veteran of the 3rd category. He works as a master Bryndza cheesemaker at the tuberculosis sanatorium of Shumeisky Commercial Dairy Farm in the Ternovka Raion.
He deserves to be awarded the Order of Glory 3rd Class.

Having seen no further frontline service, Chebotaryov’s only other award was the Medal for Victory over Germany. Post-war he was working as the Manager of Ckhalov Butter Factory whilst living in the village of Beryozovka, Privolzhye Raion, Saratov Oblast.
