Russia – Soviet: An interesting Bridge Company Carpenter trainers Order of the Red Star awarded to Reserve Lieutenant of the Administrative Service Ivan Ivanovich Titov, a Platoon leader in the 68th Mechanised Military Roads Detachment of the Main Roads Directorate of the Red Army, Leningrad Front.

Ivan Ivanovich Titov was born in the village of Devidov, Novorzhev Raion, Kalinin Oblast during 1908. Having attained a secondary education, he joined the Red Army in April 1941 and saw service a Reserve Lieutenant of the Administrative Service, in position as a Platoon Leader in the 68th Mechanised Military Roads Detachment of the Main Roads Directorate of the Red Army, Leningrad Front.
Serving during the Great Patriotic War, he was to receive a Medal for the Defence of Leningrad, before receiving a Medal for Combat Merit by Order of the Volkhov Front on 22nd February 1943. He would subsequently receive an Order of the Red Star by Order of the Leningrad Front on 29th April 1945 on the back of the following citation:
‘Comrade Titov commands the Bridge Company’s carpenters. In one year he personally taught 12 carpenters the trade, imparting a top level of expertise. He systematically seeks to improve the mechanical equipment and develop more efficient procedures. He implemented 8 streamlining proposals, improved the GGS-2 and SK-5 headrigs, and increased their production capacity.
During the time he worked on manufacturing metal structures at Factory nr.5 in the city of Leningrad, he mastered a new hole puncturing technique, which he taught to 10 soldiers.
Each day comrade Titov’s platoon exceeds the daily targets by 30-40 percent. His is the Bridge Company’s best platoon.
Comrade Titov has proven to be highly knowledgeable and authoritative officer.
For the excellent results he achieved in his duties and for his selfless efforts, comrade Titov deserves the Order of the Red Star.'
After the war Titov would work as a Modeller at the 1st Housing Department of the Frunze Raion, 16 Razeznaya Street, whilst living at 65 Dzerzhinsky Street, apartment number 17, the city of Leningrad.
