Russia – Soviet: An Infantry Officer’s Order of the Red Star awarded to Captain Grigory Masimmovich Ivanyushin, Senior Adjutant, 1st Rifle Battalion, 1162nd Rifle Regiment, 352nd Rifle Division for his role in planning the destruction of the German occupiers in Polubneyskaya and at Berezovkaya station on 1-2nd September 1943. He would also plan a successful attak on the village of Solozha and the hamlet of Slavenskoye on 12-14th September 1943 as well as foreseeing two enemy counterattacks, moving a company out of the way of artillery fire in time.

Grigory Masimmovich Ivanyushin was born in 1909. A Russian national he joined the Red Army in October 1939, and served on the frontlines from February 1942 and was wounded on 18th September 1942, this Order of the Red Star was issued to him in the field on 26th October 1943 whilst he was serving with the 49th Army, Western Front.
At the time of the award, Ivanyushin was serving as a Captain, Senior Adjutant, 1st Rifle Battalion, 1162nd Rifle Regiment, 352nd Rifle Division, the citation reads:
‘In battle with the German invaders, on 1-2nd September outside the village of Polubnevskaya and Berezovkaya Station, Comrade Ivanyushin was often situated among the ranks of the companies and there and then gave the orders for the destruction of the German occupiers.
On 12-14 September 1943, in battle outside the village of Solozha and the hamlet of Slavenskoye, he correctly and in a timely fashion prepared a plan to deliver a blow to the enemy. He skilfully divined the enemy’s intention; in battle on 12-14 September, he warned of two enemy counterattacks and moved a company out of artillery fire in time.
For bravery, courage and decisive actions, he is recommended for the government award the Order of the Red Star.’
As a temporary award certificate was issued, little further is known of Ivanyushin’s military career
