Russia – Soviet: An East Prussian Offensive Order of Glory 3rd Class awarded to Private B.V. Shishkov, a Rifleman in the 88th Rifle Division for his role in taking a German machine-gun in the fighting for the village of Nieder-Gernsleadoets.

Boris Vladimirovich Shishkov was born in Ivanovskii Oblast in 1926, and served in the Red Army from November 1944 onwards as a Rifleman in the 88th Rifle Division. He was awarded this Order of Glory 3rd Class by Order of 88th Rifle Division on 17th May 1945:
‘Comrade Shishkov, in the battle against the German Fascist aggressors at the village of Nieder Gernsleadoets (sic), displayed bravery, heroism and valour. In the battle at Shanikev, with his machine-gun he destroyed a German machine-gun.’
Shiskov was lightly wounded on 14th March 1945 in the fighting in East Prussia on the drive to the Baltic Sea.
In 1947, at the likely time of receipt of his award he was still serving in the Red Army as a member of the 58th Guards Mechanised ‘Order of Kutuzov’ Regiment.
