Medal for Combat Merits, type 2, reverse numbered 1710006.
Condition: Enamel missing from one of the letters on the obverse, otherwise, Good very fine
Leonty Fedorovich Pshenichkin was born in 1893, and this Medal for Combat Merits was issued to him by decree of the 1055th Rifle Regiment, 297th ‘Slavyansk-Kirovograd’ Rifle Division on 26th November 1944:
‘Pshenichkin Leonty Fedorovich – Private, driver of the regiment’s transport company. In offensive battles to take the settlements of Galga-Kheviz, Kheviz-Derk, and Bag from 20 to 27th November 1944, he proved himself a brave and decisive soldier of the Red Army, under enemy fire he delivered ammunition to the advancing battalion without interruption, thereby aiding generally our success in the battle.’
Nothing further is known of Pshenichkin’s service during the war, or even if he survived.
