Russia – Soviet: A Senior Sergeant and subsequent Cadet’s Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class awarded to Senior Sergeant F.M. Chernov, Cadet, Army Courses for Junior Lieutenants, 47th Army. He had taken part in the Great Patriotic War from December 1941 being wounded three times, once severely, during the campaigns on the Central, Voronezh, Southwestern and 1st Belarussian Fronts.

Fyodor Matveevich Chernov was born in the village of Kirsanovka, Marrinsky District, Novosibirsk Oblast during 1920. A Russian national he served in the Red Army from November 1939 and on the frontlines of the Patriotic War from December 1941 on the Central, Voronezh, Southwestern and 1st Belarussian Fronts in turn. He was lightly wounded in December 1941, severely wounded in August 1943 and lightly wounded again on 2nd March 1945.
This Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class awarded to him by decree of the 47th Army on 10th June 1945 whilst serving as a Senior Sergeant, and a Cadet, Army Courses for Junior Lieutenants, 47th Army as a result of the following recommendation:
‘Cadet Chernov F.M. has been in the Red Army since November 1939 and in the Active Army since December 1941. In battles with the German invaders, he has suffered 3 wounds, of which one was severe. Has been in Army Courses for Jr. Lieutenants since 28.03.1945. He has proven himself be disciplined; he has done well in military and political training. Executing the duties of a squad commander, he handles the work well. He is an assiduous, efficiency, and authoritative cadet.’
The medal was subsequently presented to him at the 27th Independent Reserve Officer Company on 25th June 1945.
