The Order of the October Revolution was created on 31st October 1967. The order was awarded to citizens of the USSR, military units, and civilian or state organisations. It was also awarded to foreign citizens and organisations. The award was given for major contributions in strengthening Soviet power and culture, bravery in battle, or creating friendlier ties with the peoples or governments of the world. The order was established to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the beginning of the Socialist Revolution in 1917.
