Russia – Soviet: A numbered Second Award of the Order of the Red Banner awarded to Colonel Petr Afansievich Vydrin, Head of the 2nd Section of the of the Engineering Department of the Odessa Military District for 20 years long service in the Red Army, he had earlier served on the Karelian Front being award an order of the Red Star on 6th November 1943, for his role in the defence of the Soviet Polar Region.

Petr Afansievich Vydrin was born in the village of Smigli, Kardymovsky District, Smolenk Region in 1896. Having attained a secondary education he joined the Red Army in June 1918, and became a member of the Communist Party in 1940.
Vydrin was the recipient of a number of awards during his time in the Red Army, the first of which was the Medal for 20 Years of the Red Army issued to him in 22nd February 1938, showing that he had been serving during, and survived the Stalinist Purges of the late 1930s. Serving during the Great Patriotic War, he was to receive an Order of the Red Star by Order of the Karelian Front on 6th November 1943, before going on to receive an Order of the Red Banner for 20 years long service on 3rd November 1944, and an Order of Lenin for 25 years long service on 21st February 1945.
As a result of his service during the war, Vydrin would receive the Medal for Defence of the Polar Region and a Medal for the Victory over Germany.
This numbered second award of the Order of the Red Banner was issued to Vyrdin as a result of 30 years long service on 20th June 1949, whilst he was in position as Aide to the Head of the Engineering Troops of the Odessa Military District.
