Russia – Soviet: A Manchurian Offensive Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class awarded to Technical Lieutenant Vladimir Ivanovich Funtikov, 1023rd Independent Signals Battalion who was decorated for his work repairing radio station for the units of the corps. He assembled radio stations on Dodge vehicles, and without regard for personal rest, he worked for entire days at the workshop on the repair of communications equipment.

Vladimir Ivanovich Funtikov was born at Krotovka Station, Krotovsky District, Kuibyshev District in 1918. A Russian national he attained a middle school education before joining the Red Army in 1918. According to his record card, Funtikov saw no service against the Germans, but would serve in the war against Japan in August 1945.
This would be his sole decoration, awarded to him by Decree of the 10th Mechanised Corps on 31st August 1945, and whilst serving as a Technical Lieutenant and Radio Technician, 1023rd Independent Signals Battalion, the citation reading:
‘’He performed a great deal of work in repairing radio stations for the units of the corps. In a short period of time, he assembled radio stations on Dodge vehicles. Without regard for personal rest, he worked for entire days at the workshop on the repair of communications equipment. He ensured the stable operation of the radio stations.’
This recommendation given the date of 25th August 1945, would cover the period of the Red Arny’s invasion of Manchuria that began on 9th August 1945. This offensive which resulted in the loss of the Japanese Kwantung Army along with the two Atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6th and 9th August 1945 respectively brought a rapid conclusion to the Second World War.
By July 1947 he would employed as a Signals Engineer, Department of Material and Technical Support, Volga Military District Railway Base, city of Kuibyshev whilst living in the same city.
