Russia – Soviet: A maintaining Radio Communications whilst wounded Order of Glory 3rd Class to Guards Private Aleksei Pavlovich Pechkaryov, a Radio Operator in the 192nd Guards Rifle Regiment, 63rd Krasnoye Selo Order of Lenin Red Banner Guards Rifle Division.

Aleksei Pavlovich Pechkaryov was born in the village of Artyushino, Belozersk Raion, Vologda Oblast in 1923, and served in the Patriotic War from October 1942 onwards, being awarded the Medal for the Defence of Leningrad and a Medal for Combat Merit by Order of the 192nd Guards Rifle Regiment on 12th June 1944, before being awarded this Order of Glory 3rd Class whilst serving as the Operator of a radio transceiver of the 192nd Guards Rifle Regiment, 63rd Guards Rifle Division on 29th September 1944 with the following citation:
‘During the offensive operation conducted between September 17 and 23, 1944, in a difficult combat situation, he ensured that radio communications functioned without interruptions. During the fighting on September 18, 1944 he was wounded, but he remained on the front line upon receiving medical attention.
He is being nominated for the Order of Glory 3rd Class.’

Pechkaryov went on to be awarded a Medal for Courage by Order of 192nd Guards Rifle Regiment on 24th February 1945, this being his final award of the Great Patriotic War. After the conflict he was serving as a Household Plot Bookkeeper at the backwater yard for technical support vessels of the Ust-Usa Raion in the Komi Autonomous Raion in the Soviet Arctic.
