Russia – Soviet: A Long Service Second Award of the Order of the Red Banner to Colonel Nikolaj Fedorovich Funtov, Head of the Political Department and the Deputy Commander for political work of the Trans-Caucasus Military District, he has served as part of the 1st Air Force and the Southern Front during the Great Patriotic War and had taken part in both the captures of Konigsberg and Berlin.

Nikolaj Fedorovich Funtov was born in the village of Pokolovo, Shuiskij Distritct, Ivanovo Raion in 1911. Attaining a higher education, he joined the Communist Party in 1929 and later the Red Army of 1933, and subsequently serving during the Great Patriotic War.
His first award was an Order of the Red Star issued to him on 14th February 1943, the next an Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class by Order of the Southern Front on 28th September 1944, this was followed by the award of his first Order of the Red Banner by decree of the 1st Air Force on 20th April 1945.
After the war he was to receive an Order of the Red Star on 20th June 1949, most likely for 15 years long service, and then this numbered second award of the Order of the Red Banner on 5th November 1954 for 20 years long service.
His other medals comprised a Medal for Combat Merits, most likely for 10 years long service, a Medal for the Capture of Konigsberg, a Medal for the Capture of Berlin, a Medal for the Victory over Germany and a Medal for the 30th Anniversary of the Soviet Army and Navy.
