Veniamin Fedorovich Krylov was born in the village of Lisino, Kharovsky District, Vologda Oblast in 1914. A Russian national he attained an elementary education before joining the Red Army in December 1936.
He would receive a Medal for Combat Merits for 10 years long service on 6th November 1947, this Order of the Red Star for 15 years long service on 13th June 1952 as well as a Medal for the Victory over Germany and a Medal for the 30th Anniversary of the Soviet Army and Navy.
