Russia – Soviet: A Long Service Order of the Red Banner awarded to Guards Major of Engineering Corps Makar Sergeevich Shamkov, a Weapons Systems Engineer, 1st Guards ‘Viborg’ Red Banner Fighter Aviation Division, Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation, who had earlier seen service in the Winter War against Finland.

Makar Sergeevich Shamkov was born in the village of Inger, Naskokovskij county, Pavinsky District, Arkhangelsk Region in 1904, and having attained an elementary education joined the Red Army in 1926, and subsequently saw service as part of the Baltic Fleet. First decorated with the Order of the Badge of Honour on 21st April 1940, he would go on to receive an Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class by decree of the Baltic Fleet on 1st October 1943, followed by an Order of the Red Star for 15 years long service on 3rd November 1944.
Receiving an Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class by Order of the Baltic Fleet on 19th April 1945, followed by two long service awards, the first is this Order of the Red Banner issued for 20 years long service on 30th April 1947 whilst employed as a Weapons Systems Engineer, 1st Guards ‘Viborg’ Red Banner Fighter Aviation Division, Southern Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation. Shamkov would later receive an Order of Lenin for 25 years long service on 27th December 1951
