Nikolai Leontyevich Kabailo was born in the city of Minsk, Belarus in 1912. Having attained a secondary level of education, Kabailo became a Member of the Communist Party and then joined the Red Army in 1930.
Kabailo was to receive a number of awards during the Great Patriotic War, the first of which was an Order of the Red Banner by Order of the Southern Front on 23rd February 1942, he would then go on to see service during the Defence of the Caucasus during the Summer/Autumn of 1942 receiving the relevant medal.
In November 1944 he was to receive a Medal for Combat Merit for 10 years long service, and finally, Kabailo was to receive this Order of the Red Star for 15 years long service.
After the war Kabailo served as the Military Commissar of the Gudermes Raion, Grozny Oblast, whilst living at 8 Vatutin Street, city of Gudermes.
