Nikolai Gavrilovich Trofimov was born in the city of Kamen, Altai Krai in 1926, having attained an elementary education he served in the Red Army from November 1943 until December 1946. Serving as a senior machine-gunner in the 69th Guards Rifle Regiment, 21st Rifle Division, 2nd Baltic Front this Bravery Medal was Trofimov’s first and only bravery award of the war. It was issued on the back of the following citation:
Layer for a mounted machine gun in the 2nd Machine Gun Company Guards Corporal Nikolai Gavrilovich Trofimov, who in November 1944 during the fighting for the city of Ostrov was the first to burst into the enemy defensive position, leading on his soldiers and killing three German soldiers. He himself was wounded in the process.
Born in 1926, Russian, Komsomol member, in the Red Army since November 4, 1943, drafted by the military commissariat of the Kamen Raion, Altai Krai, in the Active Army since July 1944, wounded in combat on November 22, 1944 doesn’t have any awards.
