Russia – Soviet: A Liberation of Novorossiysk Medal for Bravery awarded to Red Army Soldier Aleksandr Kuzmich Yudin, 796th Artillery Regiment, 318th ‘Novorossiysk’ Rifle Division, 18th Army who repaired four breaks in the telephone line during the fighting outside of the city of Novorossiysk on 12th September 1943.

Aleksandr Kuzmich Yudin was born in 1921, and joined the Komsomol in 1940. Conscripted by the Slutsk District Military Commissariat.
This medal for Bravery was awarded to Yudin on 29th October 1943 by decree of the 796th Artillery Regiment, 318th ‘Novorossiysk’ Rifle Division, 18th Army , North Caucasus Front.
The citation reads:
Telephonist, Headquarters Battery, Red Army Soldier, Yudin, Aleksandr Kuzmich for the following: during offensive battles for the city of Novorossiysk on 12th September 1943, under enemy artillery fire, he repaired 4 breaks in the telephone line, which ensured communications between the regimental headquarters and the battalions.
As an award made in the field, there is only a temporary award certificate which does not give any further details of Yudin’s wartime or post war service.
