Russia – Soviet: A Liberation of Eastern Poland ‘For Wounds’ Order of Glory 3rd Class awarded to Private Ivan Ivanovich Raspopov, 723rd Rifle Regiment, 2nd Belarussian Front, who was severely wounded in the right collar bone during a preliminary artillery bombardment in late April 1944, seeing no further wartime service, this being his only award.

Private Ivan Ivanovich Raspopov was born in Shestakovo Raion, Kirov Oblast in 1925, and served in the Red Army from 23rd March 1943 until 11th July 1944 as a Signaller in the 723rd Rifle Regiment, 2nd Belarussian Front. This Order of Glory 3rd Class was Raspopov’s only award issued to him belatedly on 30th May 1951 as a result of the following recommendation:
‘Private Ivan Ivanovich Raspopov participated in combat with the German-Fascist invaders with an independent reconnaissance battalion of the 723rd Rifle Regiment of the 2nd Belarussian Front from ***** 1943 to April 30, 1944.
While carrying out a combat mission to guarantee the uninterrupted communications along the **** line during the preliminary artillery bombardment he was severely wounded on ***** 1944, he received a shrapnel wound in the right collar bone area, resulting in bone damage. He was recovering in evacuation hospital nr. 5854 in the city of Kinishma in the Ivanovo Oblast.
The wound has been confirmed by illness testimony nr.890 of ***** 1944, issued by evacuation hospital nr. 5854.’

After the war Raspopov was working as a Kolkhoz Farmer at the ‘March 8’ Kolkhoz, Shestakovo Raion, Kirov Oblast, whilst living in the village of Mosintsy, in a rural district, Shestakovo Raion, Kirov Oblast.
