Russia – Soviet: A Kurland Peninsula Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class awarded to Lieutenant of Intendant Service N.A. Serykh, Head of the Operations and Bookkeeping Section, Main Aviation Depot No.1950 for maintain reliable supplies of ammunition and equipment to the Red Army troops fighting on the Peninsula. He was also the leader of a political education group.

Nikolai Andreevich Serykh was born in the town of Onega, Arkhangelsk region on 27th October 1907. A Russian national, he attained a secondary education and served from June 1941. This award appears to be Serykh’s only award of the Patriotic War and was issued to him on 11th May 1945 by decree of the 15th Air Force.

Awarded to him whilst serving a Lieutenant of the Intendant Service and Head of the operations and bookkeeping section at the main aviation depot No.1950, the citation reads:

‘During his service as the head of the operations and book keeping section, comrade Serykh proved himself as an experienced specialist officer, and as a good manager. He efficiently organised the book keeping process and proper documentation: for delivering and transporting the combat aviation equipment, for following up the requests coming from army HQ for weapon systems and ammunitions, for issuing the weapons systems and ammunitions to field combat units. There were never any delays in dispatching the supply truck convoys loaded with ammunitions and equipment, which assisted to the common cause of defeating the German-Fascist troops on the Kurland Peninsula.
Being dedicated to the cause of Lenin-Stalin party, Communist comrade Serykh efficiently combines his work with political-educational activities among his subordinates. He is a leader of a political education group.
For selfless work for providing the field troops with military equipment and for providing political education among the troops, comrade Serykh deserves the state award ‘Patriotic War 2nd Class.’

After the war Serykh served as the Engineer of the Military Department of the Ministry of the Forest Industry of Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic and was living in Moskovskay Street in Riga
