Russia – Soviet: A for wounds Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class awarded to Private Andrei Mikhailovich Ilyin, who was wounded three times and concussed during the Great Patriotic War whilst serving with the 2nd Belarussian Front. He would be physically awarded this decoration in 1953.

Andrei Mikhailovich Ilyin was born in the city of Krasnograd, Kharkov Oblast in 1902. A Ukrainian national, he attained an elementary education and joined the Red Army in September 1943 subsequently serving on the 1st Ukrainian Front. He would receive two light wounds and one concussion during his service.
This Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class was issued by decree of the 2nd Belarussian Front on 24th September 1945, the citation reading:
‘On the fronts of the Patriotic War since 1943. Participant of battles for the cities of Pyatikhatki, Opel (? Maybe Orel?).
In these battles, he was wounded three times and concussed once. As a participant of battles for our Motherland with the German fascist invaders, and having spilled blood, and as a soldier who acquitted himself well and was not previously awarded, I recommend him for the Government award the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class.’
At the time of the award he was employed as a Rifleman at the Headquarters of the Military Commandant of the city of Bytom, 2nd Belarussian Front.
After the war he was working as a Stoker at a Bread Factory in the city of Krasnodar, Kharkov Oblast and was living at 58 Moscow Street, Krasnograd, Kharkov Oblast.
