Russia – Soviet: A female nurse’s double Medal for Bravery group awarded to Nurse Anna Alekseevna Berleva, who saw service with the 680th Anti-Tank Regiment, 2nd Ukrainian Front and would be twice decorated for her service in Hungary where in the first instance she saved 8 people who had been injured on the battlefield, and in the second instance would help 15 injured people, getting them out of danger so that they could get sent to hospital.
Group of 3: Medal for Bravery, type 2, the reverse numbered 1410868; Medal for Bravery, type 2, the reverse numbered 1855645; Medal for the Victory over Germany. Individually mounted on aluminium suspenders.

Together with the recipient’s Red Army ID Booklet and an Award Booklet dated 1949 listing the two Medals for Bravery and their respected numbers.
Anna Alekseevna Berleva was born in Voronezh in 1924 and took the oath to join the Red Army on 11th October 1942 subsequently serving as a Nurse in the 680th Anti-Tank Regiment, 2nd Ukrainian Front. A Russian national she completed 7 grades of education before enlisting in September 1942 near Voronezh (at the time the scene of heavy fighting). Berleva would go on to receive two Medals for Bravery, the first on 3rd November 1944 for: ‘In the battle she saved 8 people who were injured on the battlefield and got them out of danger so they could be sent for medical treatment’. The second was awarded on 20th February 1945 for: ‘In war she was helping 15 injured people and got them out of danger so that they could get sent to hospital.’
Both of these awards were while her unit was fighting in Hungary. She would receive a Medal for the Victory over Germany on 14th October 1945 and Jubilee issue of the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class on 6th April 1985.
