Russia – Soviet: A breaching of Bug River defences Order of the Red Star awarded to Efreitor Yakov Ivanovich Nosov, Scout of the Headquarters Battery of the Commander of Artillery of the 7th Rifle Corps for his part in conducting uninterrupted observation of the enemy, spotting three important firing positions on Hill 83.3 and later spotting 6 firing positions in a nearby trench. He later spotted a concentration of enemy infantry forming up for a counterattack and reported the command in a timely fashion.

Yakov Ivanovich Nosov was born in the village of Kondushi, Vytegorsky District, Vologda Oblast in 1922. A Russian national, he attained an elementary education before joining the Red Army in October 1941.
He would serve for nearly two and a half years, and would be wounded on 5th January 1942 before receiving his first decoration, a Medal for Bravery by decree of the Commander of Artillery of the 7th Rifle Corps on 2nd July 1944, his next award would be this Order of the Red Star awarded to him as an Efreitor and Scout of the Headquarters Battery of the Commander of Artillery by the 7th Rifle Corps by decree of the Deputy Commander of Artillery, 7th Rifle Corps on 29th September 1944, the citation for this award reading:
‘Comrade Nosov, situated at the observation post of the Commander of Artillery during the preparatory period for the breach of the fortified belt on the western bank of the River Bug, conducted uninterrupted observation of the enemy. He personally spotted 3 important firing positions and observation posts on Hill 83.3. At the strongpoint of Ya(?)zha, he spotted a trench and up to 6 firing positions.
During the period of combat in the area of St(?), Comrade Nosov spotted a concentration of enemy infantry for a counterattack, which was reported to command in a timely fashion. During the entire period of battles, he accurately and in a timely manner kept Command informed, thereby providing them the ability to make prompt decisions.

Nosov would also later be in receipt of a second Order of the Red Star issued to him by decree of the Commander of Artillery of the 7th Rifle Corps on 26th May 1945 as well as a Medal for the Victory over Germany. By 12th September 1946 he was noted as a student at a Driving School in the city of Petrozadovsk, where he was a resident of Solemennaya Street.
