Russia – Soviet: A Black Sea Fleet Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class awarded to Starshina 1st Rank Aleksandr Petrovich Petrov, Engine Section Commander of the 12th Cutter-Minesweeper Division, Naval Security Area, Black Sea Fleet, he had earlier seen service during the Siege of Sebastopol and the Defence of the Caucasus.

Aleksandr Petrovich Petrov was born in the village of Sboevo, Moshensky District, Leningrad Oblast in 1920. A Russian national he attained a middle school education before joining the Soviet Navy in February 1939.
Serving with the Black Sea Fleet he would take part in the Defence of Sevastopol over the winter and spring of 1941-42 and then the Defence of the Caucasus after the Soviet Black Sea Fleet had pulled their ships out of the Crimea after it’s fall. He would be awarded a Medal for Bravery by decree of the Commander of the Black Sea Fleet on 2nd August 1942.
This Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class, for which unfortunately there is no accessible citation, was awarded to Petrov by decree of the Commander of the Black Sea Fleet on 6th March 1946, at which time he was employed as a Starshina 1st Rank and Engine Section Commander of the 12th Cutter-Minesweeper Division, Naval Security Area, Black Sea Fleet.
By 25th May 1947, he was employed as a machinist, technical section of the Repair Ship Metalist, Black Sea Fleet, his address given as Field Post 70094, Balaklava.
