Condition: small edge-bruise to the reverse rim at 7 o’clock, otherwise Good Very Fine
Owen James Lovejoy was born in Henley-On-Thomas, Reading on 6th March 1856 and would join the Royal Marine Artillery as a Private on 6th September 1876, before being appointed a Gunner on 19th April 1877. He would later serve aboard Minotaur from 27th December 1878 until 16th January 1879 and then Agincourt from 17th January 1879 until 18th September 1882 when he would return to the Depot, being promoted Corporal on 2nd June 1885., being posted to the Royal Marine Artillery once more on 19th June 1886, he would join Amphion on 4th July 1888 until 31st August 1888, promoted Sergeant whilst posted to the Royal Marine Artillery on 1th November 1889 he would join Immortalite on 1st July 1890 remaining aboard until 13th June 1892, being awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 29th June 1891 whilst serving aboard. Periods aboard Howe from 31st October 1893 until 13th July 1894 and Anson from 14th July 1894 until 11th July 1896 would follow. He would be promoted to Colour Sergeant on 1st April 1897.
He would later join the Royal Fleet Reserve being discharged on 6th March 1906.
