Charles William Ralf was born at Aldershot, Hampshire on 3rd January 1907 and joined the Royal Navy on 5th May 1929 giving his trade as a Milk Boy and subsequently serving as an Able Seaman. He would be discharged ashore on 2nd January 1937. He joined the Royal Feleet Reserve on 3rd January 1937 and would have seen Second World War service
