Rare Great War / Greco-Turksih War 1919-1922 period Royal Greek Navy original full length naval cap tally for a Royal Hellenic Navy vessel by the name of ΑΛΦΕΙΟΣ. Formerly the property of Chief Petty Officer Telegraphist W.I. Tickle, Royal Navy, who was a veteran of the Battle of Jutland when he survived the sinking of the Warrior, the Second Battle of Heligoland Bight, and the Greco-Turkish War. He saw service aboard the battleship Revenge between June 1919 and November 1920. Revenge was with the 1st Battle Squadron in the Atlantic Fleet. This squadron was then attached to the Mediterranean Fleet for operations in Turkey and the Black Sea as part of Britain's responses to the Greco-Turkish War and the Russian Civil War, respectively. On 19 July 1920, Revenge went to Panderma, where she encountered several vessels of the Greek Navy, including the armoured cruiser Georgios Averof, which had King Alexander of Greece aboard. Alexander visited Revenge and met with Vice Admiral Sydney Fremantle later that day. Freemantle was the command of the 1st Battle Squadron . Over the next day, Revenge assisted with Greek landings at Sultankoy and Eregli. In August 1920, the ships returned to the Atlantic Fleet.
