Queen’s Sudan Medal 1896-1898 awarded to Private L.C. Smedley, 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade who saw service during the reconquest of the Sudan including during the capture of Khartoum. He would later be present in South Africa during the Boer War where he would be present during the Defence of Ladysmith. He died of Enteric Fever at Ladysmith on 3rd April 1900.

Lester C. Smedley saw service as a Private (No. 4477) during the reconquest of the Sudan including during the capture of Khartoum.
